When you fill up the water vessel before brushing your dog / cat then gently hold your pet and press the mister spray while brushing it gently dampens the fur making it easier to pull the brush through . Pulling and collecting fur trapped in the retractable brush prongs then you press a button on the top which retracts them releasing the wods of fur , inoffensive to the dog but briiiant in its design . So highly recommended
